Jasmine S35 Acoustic Guitar by Takamine – Guitar Review
This attractive guitar has many nice features. Its top is spruce and the back and sides are mahogany stained nato. The body binding is full and the gear machines are chrome with a satin finish. The fret board is rosewood and the guitar has the standard six strings.
The sound is strong with great volume and the low end is good. The features of this guitar maximize resonance which gives it that strong sound.
The guitar comes with a Limited Lifetime Warranty. All parts and labor for repairs or replacement are covered for two years. After that, only parts are covered and only if the part is deemed defective.

The Negative:
The main criticism for this guitar is that the action is too high which makes playing high cords difficult. It also produces some buzzing on the higher cords because of the high bridge. The strings are too close to the fret or the bridge and they hit it while when they are plucked so the vibration makes the buzzing sound. Some customers complain that the wood looks like balsa. Also the guitar feels very light as if made from very thin cheap wood. Some even say it is flimsy. Another minor complaint is that the sticker that comes on the pick guard is very difficult to get off. There are many who have had their guitars arrive with broken or cracked necks or the bridge falls off. Some have even reported receiving their guitar with a neck that looked like it had cracked then been glued back together before shipping. Also, the strings that come with the guitar are cheap and old. But you should always replace the strings that come with any instrument when it is shipped to you.
The Positive:
Despite its weight, the guitar does look very nice. It has a light color on the top with a warm rich toned colored wood on the sides and back. The matte finish does not keep fingerprints so the outside does not get smudged up like a gloss finish does. The sound is quite excellent for a beginner’s guitar. It is described as being full, warm, and rich by some guitar owners. With new strings it sounds even better. The sound also holds for a long time so that you do not need to tune the guitar often. One customer even said he could adjust the action so that it was not so high.
Conclusion:
This is an excellent guitar for someone who is just learning or wants one that they can carry around or practice on without too much fear of it being damaged. It is also a good idea for someone who is not sure they are serious about learning to play the guitar. It is cheap as guitars come, but the quality for the price is excellent. The look is that of a more expensive guitar and the sound is excellent. There will always be some shipping issues, but if you are not satisfied with the product, you can send it back. So it is a good risk to take if you are looking for that first or extra guitar.
